I’ve jumpped on the band wagon and am having a go at Twitter, last night I posted about my Tea, with photos, fish and chips and bangs and mash, amazing times we live in eh!
I can be found here http://twitter.com/MIERoss

So far I have 6 followers, amazing, thanks guys!
Not sure I really get twitter yet, but it has already opened up one door for a possible podcast, so maybe its a force for good?!

About 2 weeks ago I installed Virtual Box. I prefer Virtual Box over Virtual PC, I’m not expert in either, but have used them both moderately from time to time, right now I’m running Windows 7 with Office 2010 on it. Virtual box has some nice features around docking in the guest OS and stuff like that.
Anyway, the issue is what happens to the wireless connection on the host OS – in this case XP – I’ve not tired in on Ubuntu yet, although I do have it installed there too (will have to try that!). As soon as you open Virtual Box, the wire less dies – the PC is still connected to the network but the internet just does not work, no new pages are loaded. Theres definably something odd happening – Spotify keep chugging merrily along.

If you're not using spotify, you're a crazy fool!!!!!
The high tech solution so far has been to re boot – not ideal! I was getting cheesed off with this so instead I tried disabling and then enabling the wireless network connection in Settings>Network Connections – Bingo! A much better solution, if not ground braking in it’s genius.
Anyway I’d spent a bit of time looking around for a fix and not found one, so though I would share this idea.
Any one got a proper fix?

I was on face book today, I normally check how my 6 firends are doing once a day or so, and I saw this on Will Rileys [of The Trouble with data fame] wall… (or what ever it is).

Now, I just registered for a wave and then they invited me, but I have no one to talk too, so eirther ask me to invite you or go and register and wave me! Then this can be a thing of the past, and I can have another account to log into each day!

Bonus – I’m give chrome another go, one thing I hate, is how it handles downloads – as can be seen in this screen shot.

The curse of the newsgroup
1 December 2009 by Ross McLean
The title is misleading, inaccurate. Firstly it’s not just newsgroups, its forums too, and it’s linkedin, its blogs, its everywhere else people can ask questions.
Robert Scoble has this to say: The chat room/forum problem, you only need to read the first 1/2, unless you know what Friendfeed is – I don’t… Jimmy had this to say, specifically about forums.
I see this a lot in the Excel world, people to lazy to bother searching for an answer before just asking someone else to do it for them. What’s really amazing is how many people just do give a reply. I guess that’s a good thing?
My worry is that this breads bad behaviour. We all want to help people, but I fear we need to be a bit more selective? Maybe this is an option!
